Cancer Prevention Recipe: Raspberry Rosemary Salad & Salmon Patties

Since my mother's passing in 2011 of a rare brain cancer, along with chemo and radiation which deteriorated her entire body, I have been driven to find out as much as I can about cancer and discover the natural blessings God has gifted us with here on this interesting planet we live on. I have found that many of the fruits and vegetables we have had on and off relationships with since childhood, have been filled with marvelous and miraculous effects.

I have done extensive research over the past few years on everything cancer related. I have a passion for medicine and health, my mother was a nurse and my father is one as well. I have created this meal as one of the first dishes in my anti-cancer diet plan that I am creating. There are so many people out there who are eating anti-cancer diets to prevent and fight cancer. It's time to become healthy in every way and live as God intended us to, despite all of the enemies your body faces on a daily basis.

Rosemary and Raspberry Salad
Romaine
Kale
Garlic
Rosemary
Parsley

Onion
Carrots
Fat Free Balsamic Dressing

Salmon Patties
1 Can Wild Alaskan Salmon
1 Egg (I buy Cage Free)
1/2 Cup Flour
1/4 Cup Chopped Onion
Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Enough to coat the whole bottom of whatever pan you are using. No more than that.
Seasons to Taste. I sprinkle a few shakes of Lawry's and Garlic Powder and Black Pepper.

1. Drain Liquid. Reserve.
2. Smash and smash and smash that salmon until everything is ground up and mixed in.
3. Add egg, flour, onions and seasonings.
4. Roll a fourth of the mixture into a ball and flatten into a thick patty. Repeat.
5. Cook in oil until golden brown on each side. Flip gently.
Now on to the good stuff. I am going to list out, very briefly, some benefits of each of the ingredients used in this dish. So you can see how much of a nutrient packed combination this whole situation really is. This is excluding the dressing. I will be working on a dressing recipe soon.

Romaine: Rich in antioxidants (blocks free radicals which cause damage to cells which could lead to cancer), chlorophyll, vitamins A&C (immune boosters), beta-carotene (fights free radicals), folate (a B vitamin that repairs DNA and lowers risk of breast cancer). The darker the leaf, the higher the nutritional value.

Kale: Rich in calcium, vitamins A&C, vitamin K (In conjuction with vitamin C can slow tumor growth, and slows abnormal bleeding of any kind). Vitamin K can lower the overall risk of developing cancer.

Garlic: An inhibitor of the cancer process. Contains allyl sulfur and other components which slow or prevent the growth of tumor cells.

Rosemary: Potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents. Detoxifies substances that can initiate the breast cancer process. Rich source of vitamin E (antioxidant).

Parsley: Contains phytochemicals that affect cell division speed, which results in additional time for the cell to correct any mistakes in its DNA. Rich in antioxidants like vitamin C, beta-carotene and quercetin (anti-inflammatory & antioxidant).

Tomatoes: Contains lycopene, an antioxidant, which my lower the risk of certain diseases and enhance the natural defenses of the body.

Raspberry: Contains high amounts of ellagic acid (slows the growth of some tumors), calcium, folate, and phytochemicals.

Onion: Contains sulfur components. which have the potential to lower your blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol, boosts immune system. Helps fight/prevent cancer by assisting the liver in detoxing carcinogens. Antioxidant.

Carrots: Contains the falcarinol compound, which is a natural pesticide that protects carrots from fungal disease and rotting. Works as an anti-cancer agent when consumed.

Canned Wild Alaskan Salmon:  Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that contains omega-3 fatty acids.

Olive Oil: Contains phytochemicals. An olive oil rich diet has been connected to the reduction of breast cancer.

This is just the list of foods I used in this particular recipe. There are many more I plan to use. For any information regarding this topic, go to cancer.org. My overall advice for life is to include any life-giving food into as many meals as you can. Listen, your body is an amazing thing. We just got so used to it all these years, we forget to marvel at the unseen workings which lie beneath your skin. God is truly good.
